About

We specialize in music of the late medieval and early renaissance periods. Our members include Dr. Lindsey Macchiarella, a musicologist at the University of Texas El Paso; Jieun Newland, organist at Peace Lutheran Church in Las Cruces, NM; and Flora Newberry, music teacher, musician and songwriter. We share a love of ancient music and ancient instruments and especially love bringing to light music played and written by women. Because our trio includes two soprano range instruments and one tenor or bass, the music of medieval and renassance convents and cloisters works particularly well.

Music

We research original sources and collections from the time periods we are focused on, finding the music that works best with our combination of instruments. Some of our favorite composers are Isaac, Dufaye, Landini, Machaut, Dunstable, and Josquin. We love to present in a concert/lecture format, talking about the music and composers as we play.
