The lecture starts with a story of my journey to India and play on a classical Indian composition. I will introduce the musical instrument on which I play - the sitar, and continue with the story of the journey to India and the meeting with my guru, my teacher. We will continue with the tale of Buddha, and the philosophical and religious ideas that serve as an integral part of being in daily life in India. this, while playing live pieces of music that express the same ideas in the music itself.
I will compare classical Indian music with Western music, in terms of the principles and the aesthetic ideal with music examples.
I will introduce the holy city of Varanasi and a number of special holidays celebrated on the banks of the Ganges River and the worship in India. I will play India folk music, including singing and drumming interaction with the audience.
