Malnoia is an unorthodox trio that mixes jazz and chamber music. Their debut self-titled album, released in 2017, was heralded by Downbeat Magazine as “a seamless interplay of unusual sonorities” and as “brimming with cryptic gifts and Delphic designs that confound and fascinate” by All About Jazz. Their latest album “Hello Future” (2021) is a unique hybrid of music and short stories that explore what it means to be human in the digital age, and was described by Bandcamp as “one of the most captivating recordings of the year”. 

Music

As a chamber music / jazz crossover project, our trio Malnoia takes influences from a wide range of genres and composers: from Thelonious Monk to Debussy and from Brazilian music to filmscores. We're striving for an atypical sound that can be both lyrical and nostalgic, and abstract and unpredictable. Melancholic themes can suddenly turn into unruly improvisations or sparkling romanticism.
