my formal education in music was at new england conservatory, where i studied piano with jason moran, bruce brubaker, frank carlberg, and ethan iverson; and improvisation with nasheet waits, billy hart, joe morris, and doyeon kim

my playing has been heard with david binney, JSQ!, fugitive, joe morris, doyeon kim, michael formanek, and in collaboration with visual artist rashid johnson

Music

i primarily play improvised music connected to the great tradition of black american free improvised music pioneered by people like cecil taylor, anthony braxton, and roscoe mitchell.

my music is often an exploration of their methodologies applied to other sound-worlds, including hip-hop, drum-and-bass, and korean traditional music.
