About

Isaiah Harwood, a 20-year-old jazz pianist and composer from Oakland, is dedicated to sharing thought-provoking music with his community. Immersed in the Bay Area Jazz scene from a young age, he performed with local legends and at venues like The Black Cat and Yoshi’s. Winning the Jazz Search West competition in 2016 led to a scholarship at the California Jazz Conservatory, where he graduated in 2021. He then pursued a master's degree at USC Thornton, studying with prominent musicians and graduating in 2023. Now based in Los Angeles, Isaiah balances a busy teaching schedule while performing with important LA artists of many different genres.

Music

My original music takes great influence from a long tradition of jazz harmony, form, and improvisational concepts, while grasping melodies and textures of modern contemporary classical, singer-songwriter, rock and roll, and electronic music.
