About
The Indeterminacy Festival Ensemble was founded in 2016 by artistic director Stanzi Vaubel. The ensemble performs classical repertoire in edition to premiering original works written and composed by Philippe Treuille and Stanzi Vaubel. The 2024 edition was hosted on Govenors Island featuring our composition "Fourteen Porches" for chamber orchestra and choir staged from the 14 porches of Nolan Park.
Stanzi Vaubel trained at the Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music Pre-College programs. She attended Northwestern University and later earned a PhD focusing research on her work with the Indeterminacy Festival. The festival has been awarded a Fulbright and has been staged nationally and internationally at site-specific venues around the world including Montreal, Malta, New York, Chicago, Iowa, Nebraska, and Michigan.
Philippe Treuille trained in composition at the Juilliard School and Northwestern University. His choral works have been performed nationally and internationally.
Music
We perform original music inspired by specific locations such as grain silos, fossil parks, and warehouse spaces. The music is orchestrated for chamber ensembles and choirs.
