A native of Seoul, South Korea, Los Angeles based cellist Hyunji Evonne Yi is an active performer and music educator. As a recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral musician, she has appeared in concert venues across the United States, Germany and Korea.
She has enjoyed performing for a wide range of genres including pop, kpop, jazz, folk and opera music. She appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show accompanying the band Bastille in their hit song, “Flaws”. She also appears in their music videos “Warmth” and “Good Grief”, shot and recorded live at Capitol Records. The recording she did for Bryan Lanning’s new album “Us” landed #2 spot in the iTunes Pop Charts in the U.S. She has also performed live with Dan Nyugen as well as performing for various artists on the Vietnamese Show, Paris by Night. In addition she performed with the artist Niki as part of 88 rising’s set at 2022 Coachella and most recently performed in the west coast premiere of Netflix’ Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
