Is it possible for classical and popular music to coexist in the same
cultural proposal?
Precisely that is the idea behind the work of Duo Dosdois; to
demonstrate that a dialogue between classical and popular music and
composers is not only possible in the same concert, space and cultural
program, but it can be offered to a broader audience.
The Duo Dosdois was born in Berlin, formed by a Brazilian guitarist
and a Spanish double bass player who, additionally to their academic
and classical training, maintain a special connection towards popular
music. In the cultural DNA of Berlin, one can find numerous
manifestations that coexist in the daily life of the city. That variety is
the inspiration that gave the project of Dosdois a platform.

Music

Taking into account of the homelands of its two members, this creative project delves into the exchange between the cultures on opposite sides of the Atlantic. Dos dois’ wide repertoire includes works by composers such as the Spanish Manuel de Falla or the Brazilian Heitor Villa-
Lobos, as well as popular works by authors such as Milton Nascimiento or Violeta Parra. This original project is presented in an innovative format, unusual in the daily offer of concerts in which classical programs are usually drastically separated from those of popular content. Dosdois' creative process includes arranging its repertoire to perform
works that were originally intended to be performed with other instruments with guitar, double bass and voice. Dosdois' work demonstrates that these two instruments can offer not only musical enjoyment, but can go on stage with a performance characterized with emotional intensity and intimacy in a warm atmosphere.
