About
Lux is a professional chamber choir dedicated to excellence in choral performance and education, with the belief that quality music-making need not sacrifice accessibility, nor care for one another. Founded in 2014 by a group of high school friends, the group has earned praise from famed composers, celebrated conductors, and audience members alike for their “visceral energy that comes through every note and every word.” They’ve earned awards on both local and national levels, including two Wammies (Best Choral Group & Best Choral Album, 2021), and a Featured Choral Album on Classical MPR, joining past winners such as Voces8, Tenebrae, and The Sixteen. Ever-passionate for contemporary choral music, Lux has given nearly thirty premieres since 2019, including works from their first commission and first composition contest in 2021. Lux recently collaborated with composer Paul Mealor to record the album "Lead, Kindly Light". It will be released in 2024.

"An extraordinarily fine concert. Lux is a wonder and a joy."

Music
Lux's repertoire spans the gamut from the Early Renaissance to world premieres written today. Over the years, we've performed choral classics from of the Western European classical tradition, including composers like William Byrd, Felix Mendelssohn, Anton Bruckner, and Amy Beach. We are proud to present innovative programs with an eye towards representing composers of diverse, underrepresented backgrounds while honoring the rich tradition from which this music comes, and highlighting lesser-known composers of today and of the past. We have featured a number of concert programs showcasing the lineage of contemporary choral music, tracing its roots back from the music of today to that of the Renaissance, and everything in between. For examples of our repertoire, see the "Past Programs" page on our website, or watch video samples on our "Media" page.
